K. Fung, Ph. D. This is an amazing book with Illustrations that are hand painted. Issued by the Chinese Painting Association of Peking. 5 Tung Chang Tai Ping Hutung. Peking, China1931. Oblong folio. Pp. (vi) + illustrations on 18 lvs. Includes 101 different shop signs beautifully hand colored with captions in English and Chinese.This book is in very good condition and quite rare. The images are all hand painted. Publisher's binding with silk covered upper board and matching paper covered board at back. "The shop signs of different parts of China vary according to the customs of the people. This book measures 13 and one quarters inches by 10 and one quarters inches. There is a note in the front that says Anna Salisbury Dec 1937 from Captain George.

It quite extensive mentioning horse fishing, stone work,work with horse teams,along with the names of Brooks,Scovill,Whitmore,Clark,Tailor,Jones and others.One parts states putting lock in door twelve cents,Wm Johnson two days work two dollars fifty cents.Four Hundred hay Wm Niff three dollars. This day book documents a work day in America during the mid 19th century.
